BREAKING NEWS: The return of TJ's Hot & Sweet Mustard and Cupcake Kit Winners

Approximately two years ago, Trader Joe's mercilessly ripped their popular Hot & Sweet Mustard from its shelves without warning. As a frequent slather of said mustard on my turkey sandwiches (among other things both edible and inedible), I was devastated by the discovery. So much so that I immediately went home to issue a Missing Condiment's Report on my blog.

My fellow Hot & Sweet spreaders were equally heartbroken by the news -- we wanted our mustard -- nothing else would do!

But a few months passed by, I discovered that Inglehoffer's Sweet Honey Mustard was as good -- maybe even better, and after a while, I was able to move on.

And I did move on.

Then, today, as I was looking for the Dark Chocolate Tahitian Vanilla Caramels in the "New Item" section of my local Trader Joe's, I discovered an entire shelf of my long lost and long forgotten Hot & Sweet Mustard. While the label and bottle are different, I knew that it was the same condiment inside.

"It's back!" I squealed, as I grabbed my phone to take a picture of the fruitful display (see above).

My enthusiasm was mitigated some when an employee informed me that it's only available for a limited time during the holidays. Since Hot & Sweet mustard is a wonder for sandwiches every hour of every day, during every season, the only reasoning I can come up with for this illogical stocking plan is that Trader Joe's is pulling a McRib on its customers.

Either way, I'll be buying a case of it before it goes the way of the North Pole.

In completely unrelated news, I am happy to announce that at approximately 2:05 pm today, I held the official drawing for the Great Bakelab Holiday Cupcake Decorating Kit Giveaway in my apartment!

It was a nail-bitter, but the two winners are...

Amy from the Roaming Belly and Laura S.!

Apparently, Amy will be making a simple vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting, Laura will be making Billy's Bakery vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting, and I will be inviting myself over to their places of residence. As soon as they e-mail me them at ieatcupcakesATgmailDOTcom so I can send them their prizes.

Congratulations ladies! The rest of you can salve your wounds with the Hot & Sweet Mustard. Sweet to dull the pain, and hot to relax it away.

Holy cow. Best news of the day! I've missed my hot and sweet mustard for far too long. If my TJ's doesn't have it in stock, I'm filing an official complaint.
